Flea market finds

We spent a day in resort-type town on Saturday.  They were having their Maxwell Street days along with a flea market.  I have been wanting some old display boxes of some sort to house some individual stamps and other fun crafty things in my corner.  I had told myself that I needed to get to a flea market to find these kinds of treasures, not knowing I would find myself at one so soon!  It was awesome.  I love the vintage wire tote...can't wait to clean it up and decorate it for fall.  And their was a SU demo there!!  Of course, I found a set I couldn't live without.  And even better, I love having found these things on our little mini vacation...I have a bunch of wonderful memories attached to these goodies!  Someday I will show you what I've done with them...but it might be awhile.  Every fall I totally reorganize my crafting corner.  After being away from it all summer, reorganizing helps me to reacquaint myself with what I have.  I usually accumulate a few stash piles from things I buy through out the summer.  Imagine!

But autumn is moving in slow but sure.  I already have a mum and I brought up our fist pumpkin from the garden.  We have several more!!  Once the kids are back in school, I haul out all my fall decor and also get some mums planted in various pots around the house.  There are usually enough summer flowers that have seen better days by then!

Thanks for stopping by!  What do you think of my new design?  Is the font easy to read?  Too small?  Give me some feedback and I'll play around with it some more to make it more user-friendly.

Working now...

Well, looks like I'm back up on Google Reader and blog roll lists. I had to change my feed to "short", so please hop over to my blog and read the full posts!  It's the only way I could get it to work.  Please know there are posts that I've written since the waffle recipe post!!!  Take a look.  I have been on a blog-a-cation, but hope to be back to posting more regularly sometime in September!  :)

Testing...

I guess my posts are not showing up in Google Reader and blog roll lists....making some changes to see if it helps!

Fresh Tomato-Mozzarella Salad

Ah, summertime bliss. The weeding has slowed down as the plants take over and limit the weed growth. Our tomatoes are in full gear right now. Big & beautiful. Some heirloom, some regular. Delicious. We've already enjoyed a few meals of BLTs. Today I made up this yummy salad using some fresh basil that is ready for harvest also.

Tomato-Mozzarella Salad
from Serving up the Harvest

3 large juicy ripe tomatoes, sliced (I chopped them instead)
8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced (I used mont-jack and cut it in chunks)
8 large basil leaves, torn
1/2 red or sweet onion, thinly sliced (I diced them)
2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp good quality sherry, balsamic, or red wine vinegar (I used red wine vinegar)
Sea salt and ground pepper

Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate for several hours before serving.

Hmmm, I just told about how I always follow recipes...oops!
Guess I do adapt more than I thought.

Enjoy!

Peeking in...

I just discovered this awesome quote while spending a little time reading some older blog posts in Google Reader this afternoon. This quote is HUGE for me because of some issues I've been experiencing this summer. I have been enjoying the summer amidst it all.

not realizing that life is made up of little things | Frank A. Clark

My blog-a-cation is going to continue through the month of August. I've just been enjoying the summer months way too much to be able to sit in front of this computer for very long. And when I do, it's to keep up with my photo-a-day private blog. I've been working on catching up with vacation and daily photos today. I have a blog post in the works, but I haven't been able to sit still long enough to finish it. Happy days...enjoy these last days of summer!

We've had lots of hot, humid weather here, but I must admit I've been enjoying it. I've enjoyed working out in our gardens more than ever. Sweating buckets and seemingly watering our plants with my sweat drops as I go along weeding! A cool house and a cool shower remedy that sweat grossness quickly, have no fear.

A few pictures from the blog post in progress that likely won't get published!
