Blog-a-cation

Well, I think it's time for a little blog-a-cation. I don't know if it will be for 2 weeks or 1 month, but July always seems to intensify everything and I just need to sit back and enjoy it. I'm very much a routine person, but summer brings lots of surprises and I need to go with the flow better. Like DH coming up from the garden, announcing that the beans need to be canned tonight. Well, not tonight, but any certain night when all of the sudden the beans are ready in FULL force!! I try hard to hang on to my routines all through June, and then when July hits, I just give up...there are just too many wants and needs of others (people and gardens) that need my attention.

So, I'll be back! Never fear!
Maybe even tomorrow (after all I have a few posts in the works),
but I want the feeling of "I HAVE to blog something today"
gone for the time being.
(even though that means I won't be crafting much either...
but if I do, I'll hopefully have time to share it with you too.)

And please enjoy your summer too.
Are there things/expectations you, too,
can let go of so you can enjoy it better?
Do it and then we'll visit about it when I come back.

PS...this means I won't be commenting much either,
so please don't think I' m ignoring you!

Welcome,

If you here for the OLW blog hop, please go here.

5K race completed

I have one official 5K race under my belt. Finished with a time of 33:50. Not my best time, but I was feeling kind of sluggish today. And it was pretty warm this morning. But DH ran along-side me which as very nice. I can't wait to try another one, and with some more running practice, I should be able to get a better time.

Then it was off to our friends for a potluck with plenty of other friends. We played many hours of volleyball and kickball. It felt so great soaking up all those sun rays. We did have sunscreen on, so I don't think any of us came home with sunburns. Yea!

It was a lovely day and we're all pretty tired tonight. But I love feeling of being healthy and strong and being able to play hard all afternoon. A great blessing indeed. We even participated in a three-legged race with the kids. They thought it was great fun to watch their parents racing down the lawn.

So, welcome July!
We're off to a fun, happy summer!

A few of the highlights for Gretchen's book chapter 6, Make Time for Friends that I especially want to work on,

♥Be generous
I love this one...but not on the material line of things.
I want to think more about how I can be more generous with the following things I give to my friends:

*time

*thought/care/prayer

*remembering what they've told me about their life and follow up on that. Maybe offering to help if it's something they might need help with

*I want to offer more cheers/encouragement. Like one of Gretchen's thoughts was, "One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy" and vs. "One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy yourself."

A card I made with a favorite stamp set sentiment,

This was a hard topic for me to jump on board with and I've written and re-written many things, but I'll post without them. It's ironic that my SIL and I were just talking about friends/having friends/what really is friend, so I have had lots of thoughts on the subject, but I just don't know how to put them all in written word format.

But one thing I do know...
a true, hearty friendship=a wonderful happiness!!

See you next month!
