Company's here!

I've got company today!
I made these delightful goodies to have for breakfast.

You can find the recipe here. I also added a cream cheese filling from this recipe that I put the Cherry Pie filling over! I made the pie filling from our own fresh cherries using this recipe. They are suppose to have a confectioner's sugar glaze drizzled over the top, but my company arrived before that could happen and I just never got around to making it. I can't say we're missing it, but I can imagine it would make them even prettier.

So I'm off to enjoy a day with my cousin and her husband. My other cousin and her family were here too, but they are on their way further west. There's nothing like time with family. I love all the family resemblances that come out when you are together!

Polka dots and mini roses

I played along with the Color Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. I made this for another elderly DF who has a birthday this week! And I think it's #95!! Wow!

And the inside,
Funny, I just realized one of my layers of Crumb Cake don't match...I must have grabbed Kraft for the base of my card...but I kinda' like it so there!

Today we are off to have a fun day. I'll be dropping my oldest daughter off at my dad's, while my youngest daughter and I go for a run/bike ride. Then we'll all have lunch together. Hit the library. And then hit the POOL!
Should be a relaxing afternoon poolside.

What have you done for relaxing, summer-time fun?

Life through my lens,

Today I played along with two challenges over on Splitcoaststampers.
The Featured Stamper Sunday challenge and today's CAS color challenge.

Featured Stamper inspiration found here.

The old camera and negative images are from a set by Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday, Life in Pictures. I also pulled out my well-loved, retired SU Smile set. This card is for an elderly DF of ours that has just sold her house and is waiting to find out which assisted living she will be moving into. When she was well and active, she was an avid photographer! And she does make us smile with her positive, can-do attitude even through the most difficult days.

And for some exciting news, I learned that SMASH published a blip about my SMASH album!! I had sent them an email telling them how much I loved my album and links to what I had done with it. Ha! Diary of a Foodie...funny, because this weekend I realized all the foodie pages I was doing and have yet to do!!! Food is very much a part of our family's fun and excitement!! All of my SMASH post can be viewed here.

Then, yesterday my cherry card that I posted Saturday got listed in the
SCS Favorites thread!
Such honors for this little unknown crafter.

So here's one more foodie SMASH post and then I promise to switch gears and do some summer book reading lists ( I read a whole book yesterday and into the wee hours of the morning!!) and a page with some cute things my youngest daughter has said lately.

Remember this McDonald's page and the digestive glut I had from eating there? Well, "Follow me to Culver's"! We dined there the other night and as always, are never disappointed with our delicious meals.

Life is just a bowl of cherries, Part 2

I couldn't resist playing along with the SCS Inspiration challenge this morning. These cute bags inspired this card, along with my cherry photography post earlier today. I immediately thought of this red gingham paper I've been using a lot of lately.
And that made me think of cherries and summer time.
I love it when one happy, creative thought leads to another!

Life is just a bowl of cherries!

That's how many pictures I took to get this one shot.

How many do you take of something so you can be
sure to have at least one that meets your standards?

What a treat, standing under the tree,
eating them one after the other.
Mmmmm, SUMMER time!

Have a wonderful weekend!

SMASH & CHOCOLATE...who can resist that combo??

As I posted already today, my daughter and I made cookies yesterday.
I used up the cocoa and immediately had a need to add the
label of the cocoa container to my SMASH album.

Recipe from Sweet Anna's

I'm using the Retro Blue SMASH album

What have you SMASHed lately?

July meal planning, cookies and strawberries

A lighter load this month with various things going on.
Lots of picnics and grilling in addition to the below offerings!

Brown Sugar Glazed Meatloaf
Cheese Spinach Quesadillas
Country Pasta with Mozzarella
Corn Dog Casserole
Herbed S&S Chicken
Creamy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole
White Enchiladas

Just made these today with DD2! Very YUM.

I also picked about 5 quarts of strawberries from our patch yesterday.
I made Supreme Strawberry Topping and Strawberry Spinach Salad.
With the strawberries that were left, I sliced them for eating on top of our morning
yogurt and granola.

SMASH fun!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon working on my SMASH album.
I love using pockets from memorabilia I've collected from our outings.
French fry holders, cookie holders, popcorn bag...

And I love how this all reminds me of the old memorabilia scrapbooks I used to throw together as a teenager. I would never take the time to scrapbook about some of this stuff, but SMASHing it goes together so quick and fun. Blame it on the marketing and hype, but this product is living up to it's expectations.
You can't say that about a lot of things.

Some stuff gets put in my Project Life album, so I'm finding it hard to know what to SMASH and what to file in PL!

My McDonald's "NOT SO LOVIN" IT" page,
The girls and I hit the McDonald's $1 spot one day. Ugh. It did NOT sit well with me. I'll take Culver's anyday!!! I plan on using the other page for a Culver's page! Something like "Follow me to Culver's" to go along with the cute biking image.

My ♥ Panera pages,
The "pocket" is from my cookie! Receipt for a Decaf Mocha Grande, a Panera menu and a picture of a recent breakfast there are tucked inside. On the first page, I listed all my favorite things that I've ever ordered.

And our from our family fun day the other day,

Trader Joe background is cut out from the brown paper bag we brought our groceries home in. The other side uses some of their sale flyer! The pocket is my popcorn bag. Inside I tucked our gift card holder, restaurant receipt and my DD2's list of meal choices she was going to pick! Also included a quote piece about the crazy lady in front of us in the service line-up at the garage...she was concerned that her tailpipe was unsightly (her exact word). We all got quite the giggle out of that. She had a rather new RAV4 too!

And some pages from my daughters' books,

For more SMASHing ideas and fun, check out their website!

Fourth of July Chick

I finally carved out some creative time last evening after a delightful summer day! I played along with the SCS Color Challenge.
I love this "Patriotic Chick" from Stampendous.

It's hard to believe July 4th is just around the corner. We'll be headed to some friends for their annual potluck festivities. DH and I will also be running a 5K that morning. I can't wait. It will my first and his second.

Today we're off to have coffee with my dad and then home for the first day of summer music lessons. DD1 with the french horn (she is trying this out as a second instrument this summer) and DD2 with the guitar.

Happy Summer!

I love Project Life by Becky Higgins

Happy first day of summer!

Here's what we had for dessert tonight, Fresh Strawberry Pie!
Our little patch is doing great this year.

And here's what we did yesterday,

Good ol' fashioned 100% PURE kid fun with 2 little boys we
were babysitting for our DF's!
It was so fun watching them all play and see their imaginations at work.

June Color Combo Blog Hop

June's Color Inspiration,

Welcome to our June Color Combo Blog Hop!
If you have arrived from Helena's blog, you are in the right place!
If not, please see the full list of participants below to help you find your way.

Summer is here in full swing, so I'm thrilled to still get this two-page layout done. I documented a trip we took with Grandma. I was so excited to dig into my freshly organized memorabilia box and find the ferry brochure from this trip...and even more excited to find it coordinated so nicely with this color combo. How lucky is that? I used part of the map to show which ferry routes we rode on.

And there you have it!
Hop on over to Kristy's blog!

Sad to say, I won't be able to play along with the next two month's hops, but I look forward to playing again in September!!

If you get lost along the way, here is the full list of participants this month,
