Birthday greetings and Baby gift thank yous

I made this for a friend awhile back. Finally her birthday has arrived,
so I can share it with you!! :)

I was also busy making up 24 of these cards last Friday evening to tuck inside a baby shower gift. I thought a package of thank you note cards would be fun for the mommy-to-be to have on hand!

I found the note card base in a pkg of 12 at Micheal's.
This is what they look like, Pink Polka Dot Ditto cards.
I got one package for 40% off and the second package for 25% off.

Here they are all packaged up and ready to go.
This was so fun to put together!

Come back tomorrow for the giveaway I've been promising.
I'm over the 5,000 visit mark on my blog.
It will be offered in my OLW blog hop post, but open to any and all to enter.

June meal ideas

Looking forward to the month of June very much!

More relaxed schedules. More grilling.

More picnics. More family fun!

What are you looking forward to?

And speaking of picnics, what do you do for picnics? Us, we take the easy route. I used to think I had to make up a slaw and foiled wrapped veggie goodness, but we've since discovered the easy route...hotdogs or burgers, fresh rolls, a bag of chips, carrot sticks and ranch, and cookies. Easy-peasy. We head for the nearest park and relax.

Sometimes I'll make up a quick slaw or carrot salad to bring along, but often our picnic decision is spur of the moment. Sometimes we get subs or a pizza. I keep a picnic basket packed so I don't have to think of what all to bring every time. It's ready to GO.

The best thing for us is just getting out of the house and relaxing in our camp chairs at a beautiful park. If we stayed home, we'd find something to do while getting supper on, or we would hop up from the supper table and get back to work! This way we unwind a bit and relax!

Here's a few meal ideas I have in mind,

Cheeseburger Pie

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Stuffed Shells

Mexican Casserole

Creamy Cajun Pasta with Blackened Chicken

Shepherd’s Pie

Party Beans (recipe below)

Chicken Bruschetta Casserole

Cowboy Quesadillas

Potato & Bacon Breakfast casserole

Granola (1.5 lbs)

Party Beans recipe from a DF

Brown ½ lb hamburger and onion
6-7 strips bacon, fry ahead, drain and break up

1 can red kidney beans, do not drain

1 can butter beans, drained

½ cup molasses

¼ cup brown sugar

½ cup ketchup

1 tsp dry ground mustard

Mix all together and bake at 350* for 1 hour.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Rhubarb season is in full swing up here in the north! I thought I would share a few of our favorite recipes!

Rhubarb Stir Cake
Rhubarb Sauce
Country Rhubarb Dessert

Chocolate Chip cookies....

These are on my top ten list for sure now!! Thanks Misti! :)

Do NOT flatten them. Take a 1/2 cup and twist in half to divide. Plop on cookie tray with point sides UP. Just like the directions say. ;)

I took a picture of mine before baking...put them in them in the oven

I'll be back soon with June's meal plan!

Lookee what came yesterday, SMASH!!!

I got my first delivery of SMASH goodies. I also got some more of it at Archiver's this weekend. It has officially hit the stores! A friend mentioned taking a class over at BPC, Kidding Around {2}. I won't be taking the class (I'm classed out right now!), but that gave me the grand idea of doing this with my girls this summer! They are always collecting goodies through our summer adventures that they could easily SMASH. I hope it will be a SMASHing success for us. :) I ordered directly from K&Co, received free shipping on my order and have already rec'd it. I've ordered some more goodies from 2 other companies (pre-orders) before ordering from K&Co and haven't rec'd them yet or even gotten an email that they are shipped.

Thought I had nothing to say today...

I love Project Life by Becky Higgins

BUT...this post rings so true for me after an experience this weekend! As you know from my earlier post, a DF and I were out scrapbooking together all day Saturday. Later that evening, my oldest daughter called to say hi. She told me that she had been "mini-mommy" all day and had taken photos through-out the day to document their day with out me! I love that she has observed this trait about me. I can't wait to get her photos developed. It will be a fun summer project for her to scrapbook them and tell about their day without me.

Here's a few that she took.
Some I editted to give them a boost. She must have been moving too quick, b/c many of them were slightly blurred!!

Thanks Becky Higgins for the inspiration to make this project a priority!!

Love this view of her closet, **not editted**,
she captured this mood all on her own!

Our bed that never got made!

Wearing Mommy's clothes,

The rainy, gloomy day they had,

Daddy made bread,

DQ for supper!

Fun play,

All picked up,

Helping dad,

Great minds think alike

Check out Melissa's blog candy here. I'm doing the same thing soon (remember my announcement...you're going to want to visit again to see it soon!!!). We didn't even discuss it, so that's proof that great minds think alike!

No crafty stuff from me today. It's another beautiful day, so I'm off to get a walk in and then mow and maybe weed. Maybe after I've soaked up enough sunshine, I'll head down to my corner, but somehow staying inside on a day like this just doesn't work for me!

Scrap day

A friend and I went to Archiver's and spent the day scrapbooking on Saturday. I have about 12 pages in the works now. I'll give you some peeks at them tomorrow. They aren't completely done because I still need to journal and add a few more embellishments. And I need to unpack before that can happen! Here's my pile to put away...basically half of my corner LOL!

What are your must-haves when you pack up and go
somewhere else to scrapbook?

I bought an awesome giveaway...you're really gonna' flip over it I think. So keep visiting me, and when I get to 5,000 visits on my blog, I'll post the giveaway!

Digging in the dirt

I love Project Life by Becky Higgins

Wow! I feel like a new person! I finally got to dig in the dirt yesterday, so hence, nothing crafty to show you. I got all my flower pots filled, front and back. They are my pride and joy all summer long...so bright and lush. I do red, white, yellow and purple out front. I have a bunch of pots clustered around our flag pole and then a few by the rocking chairs on the front walkway. Then out back on our deck, I do pinks, purples, yellows and white. I also did a red, white, blue and yellow arrangement for my mom's grave site. Dad likes to see color there and I don't like silk arrangements. Plus, they just blow away in the wind we often get and get faded by the sun. I'm only a few minutes away, so it's not hard to keep it watered.

I'll post pictures of the flowers once they get growing and are nicely established, but for now, here's proof of my dirty hands!

Mmmm, fresh basil.

And while I'm sharing a photo, I'll share some more PL photos of the day.

Cobalt blue goblets I rec'd for a wedding shower gift! We still have all 4. They are pulled out for special occasions...like our anniversary.

New running shoes. And yes (Bethaney!), I finally found where the long lace goes after you've tightened the shoes up...there is a pocket for it on top of the tongue!

Baltimore Orioles frequented our back deck for bites of orange slices.

Life without this friend wouldn't be the same. I have a nice bag for it, but it often sits out on the counter poised for action.

My daughter got the game of Blokus for her birthday. Awesome game of strategy and fun.

Word Inspiration/Technqiue Challenge

I'm so excited! I started out making this card just to make it for the CAS challenge and to use a long-unused set from Our Craft Lounge. But once I got it all done, I realized it will make the perfect little girl birthday card for a friend my daughter. We'll be visiting her on her birthday the end of June! Love it when things work out that way.

Tidbits about the card,
I paper-pieced her dress and the present.
The sentiment has Crystal Effects on it.

But WAIT. I have a second card for you today! I was going to wait until tomorrow, but I'm too happy about how they both turned out, that I must share today.

The SCS Techniques challenge "allowed" me use a button Sizzlit die I've had for a long time and never used. I love this sentiment from PTI"s Quilter's Sampler and Quilter's Sampler sentiment set. Someday I'll send a little note to my MIL on it.

And speaking of PTI, have you seen their new release?? WOW! I'm so impressed with their product line. I'm going to create a new savings account category just for them so I can fill a cart up over there. Fun, fun!

Sunday's Featured Stamper challenge

I haven't done a Featured Stamper challenge over at SCS in a LONG time. Looking ahead to today last evening and not seeing much in the way of inky time, I decided to unwind and play along.

I chose this beautiful CAS card to work with, Scrap-tastic!

Mine isn't quite as CAS as her's was, but I was cold, so maybe I was looking for more of a cozy look by sponging the edges of my card and the butterfly layer!

Color Combo Blog Hop

Welcome to the Color Combo Blog Hop where a few of us from Shimelle's Beyond Blogging for Scrapbookers class have joined together to scrap! This is the first I've scrapbooked in almost a year...can you believe it? It felt so good to get back into it again. I have way too many stories waiting to be documented like this.

If you arrived from Sara's blog over at 1200somesmiles then you are in the right place. If you are here and didn't come from the previous blog, I have a complete blog hop list down below.

Our color inspiration,

My 2-page layout,

Further inspiration was taken from the box of our game of Life!

My DD1 got this fun game for her birthday last year. We love to play games together, especially on cold winter evenings. DD2 is often the one to bring us together, asking "Mommy, (or Daddy) can we play games tonight?" This game took us two nights to play, and even then I'm pretty sure we took some shortcuts!

Supplies used:
small and large corner rounders
DP from SU Designer Series Paper (yellow stripe), Marcella by K (turquoise wavy stripe)
curved arrows, Sizzlits Curves Ahead die
puffy letters, Rootbeer Float Thickers adhesive letters (American Crafts)
black letters, Creative Imaginations David Walker "Basic"
Font for journaling, Ali Edwards
white gel pen
SU cardstock, real red, only orange, green galore and pacific point
The road sign arrows I made myself!

Thank you for stopping by!

Here is the complete listing of the blog hop participants, (** you are here!)

Sweet-heart vine

I recently sent this out. It was a CASE of this beautiful card by Gretchen Clark. I love CAS card styles!

Thankfully it looks like Blogger is back up and running! My guest post from Thursday disappeared and was in my drafts as "scheduled for May 12"! So I brought it back to life.
